Return to Play Guidelines

The St Marys Executive will continue to evaluate these guidelines over the course of the curling season and these guidelines are subject to change.

Mandatory Vaccination

  • In accordance with the Government of Ontario Vaccination Certificate regulations, all members, guests and staff are required to be fully vaccinated (plus 14 days) to participate in or attend any and all events at St Marys Curling. Proof of vaccination will be required before the start of the season. More details on how this verification process will work are to come, after consultation with OCA and HPPH. More information about the Vaccination Certificate can be found here.

General

  • Please complete the self assessment screening questions before coming to the club: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/
  • There will be no spectators permitted in the lounge.
  • Please wash and sanitize your hands regularly.
  • Social distancing guidelines should be observed throughout the building, including the ice surface.
  • Masks are mandatory when travelling throughout the building.
  • Contract tracing tablet will be set up at the front door and everyone entering the building should scan themselves in each time.
  • If you are not feeling well, please DO NOT come to the club.
  • There will be no club equipment available.

Building Flow

  • Curlers should arrive ready to curl (with the exception of curling shoes) around 10 minutes before the start of your draw.
  • Entering through the washrooms, we will set up a warm room in the former mens change room for all to access and put shoes on.
  • Curlers should remain in the warm room or bathroom until given notice to proceed to the ice surface.
  • No belongings should be left in the change room during your game.
  • At the end of your game, you should proceed directly upstairs through the doors at the end of sheet C/D.
  • A coat rack will be set up in the hallway to keep your coat warm while you are on the ice.

Curling

  • Clubs are able under existing regulations to return to play with minimal protocols (play the game as if COVID-19 did not exist). You should discuss with your team on what each person is comfortable with in regards to sweeping and masking. In some cases, teams may feel more comfortable with only 1 sweeper or remaining masked during play and we leave that totally up to individuals or teams to decided.
  • Please avoid handshakes and/or fist bumps at this time.
  • “Home ends” will now be on alternating sheets. For example: Sheet A start at the glass, sheet B at the far end.
  • Please practice social distancing while on the ice. When your team is NOT throwing, you should be waiting on the markers at the hogline of your sheet only. Reminder that you should not be interacting with other sheets/players while unmasked.
  • Masks should be worn until you are settled on your sheet and just before curling begins. They should not be removed as soon as you step out into the rink area or while waiting on the boards.
  • Two sweepers will be permitted.
  • Sweeping behind the t-line will be permitted.
  • Please wipe down your 2 rocks with the cleaning wipes before AND after your game.

Lounge

  • Masks to be worn when travelling around the lounge. Can be removed once seated at your table and actively eating or drinking.
  • Your team and your opponents may sit at the same table but there should not be any switching tables or joining other tables.
  • Shared snacks will be prohibited.
