The Volunteer Bond Program is a way to encourage the St Marys Curling membership to meet the volunteer needs required in maintaining a successful volunteer run organization. At the beginning of the season, members must submit a Volunteer Bond deposit of $100. If volunteer obligations are met (5 hours of time), the payment will be returned in full. If volunteer obligations are not met, then the payment will be forfeited to St Marys Curling.

Each year there are numerous volunteer opportunities that need to be filled, and there are always challenges filling all of these. Generally, there are a group of individuals who regularly volunteer, while there are others who do not participate at all. The hope is that by having a Volunteer Bond, more members will step forward in support of the organization throughout the year. Those that simply do not have the time or interest in volunteering will now support the club through funds that can be used to hire extra help throughout the season.

The $100 volunteer bond should be included with membership payment. While the bond is mandatory for all members you simply need to complete a tracked volunteer opportunity totalling 5 hours during the Volunteer Bond Program Year and your deposit will be returned.

Ways to earn your bond back:

• join the board or a committee
• convene a bonspiel
• instruct a curling clinic
• instruct junior curling
• assist with building maintenance
• bartending a weekday evening or during a weekend bonspiel
• help in the kitchen during a bonspiel
• help with ice install and facility startup.
• help prepare ice surface throughout the season
